Installed capacity of wind power generation at the end of 2013: 2,661 MW, 1,922 units
JWPA announces the installed capacity of wind power generation in Japan as of the end of December 2013(surveyed by JWPA) and the estimated data for FY 2013 (as of the end of March 2014).
Cumulative installed capacity of wind power generation at the end of December, 2013 = 2,661 MW, 1,922units on 414 wind farms
The 2013's new installation was 47MW in Japan. It is lesser than 2012's 78MW and it is also the smallest since 2003.
The feed-in-tariff(FIT) was introduced in July 2012, on the other hand, strict environmental impact assessment (EIA) has applied for all wind farms over 10MW since Oct.2012.
About 3.8GW of projects are under EIA procedure now, but they need about 4 years to pass through. The sunrise of wind power market in Japan have to wait the finishing of EIA procedures.
