JWPA Report Detail

Japanese Cabinet approves offshore wind promotion law again

The new offshore wind promotion law has been pushed out by political battles at last 196th ordinary Diet session in last July.
Then, Japanese government intends to reload this law at the 197th extraordinary Diet session, which started from 24 Oct. for 48 days.

Japanese Cabinet approves offshore wind promotion law again on 6 Nov 2018.
The law is sent to the House of Representatives. Land transport commission controls it.
We expect that the law will be deliberated and resolved in the House of Representatives in the middle of Nov..
And it shall be resolved at the House of Councilors in the end of Nov., about 1 week earlier than the Diet termination.

After the Diet approval, it needs about 3 months for fixing detail ordinances.
If everything goes well, the new law will be enforced next spring, and the auction for 1st candidate zones will be done next summer.
