Global Offshore Wind Summit – Japan 2022 & Joint statement

JWPA and GWEC jointly held the Global Offshore Wind Summit – Japan 2022 (GOWSJ2022) in Akita on November 9-10 2022.

There were 720 participants from about 25 countries (preliminary figures).

Mr. Norihisa Satake, Governor of Akita Prefecture, gave a speech. Mr. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Teysuo Saito, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, also delivered a speech by video for the event.

This is the second GOWS event in Japan, following at Kitakyushu in 2021.

After the closing on 10 November, JWPA & GWEC jointly issued a statement that Japan should develope offshore wind power development which is useful for Japanese energy security against recent soaring energy price by Ukraine crisis.
