Japan starts offshore wind auction for Goto in Nagasaki
Japanese METI(Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and MLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) start auction for Goto sea area (Max. 21MW, 8-10 turbines, floating) in Nagasaki pref. on 24 June 2020. The auction deadline is on 24 Dec. 2020, and the winner will be decided in June 2021. This is the 1st auction at General Common Sea Area in Japan. (As for Port Associated Sea Area, we have auction experience already. Such as Kitakyushu Hibikinada project.)
The PPA price is 36 JPY/kWW, because this is floating offshore wind project.
(As for fixed bottom type, the PPA price shall be decided by auction.)

On the other hands, 4 zones are waiting for official nomination. MLIT has announced the intention of nominating 4 zones (3 Akita & Choshi) on 22 June 2020. The public hearing os done by 30 June.
- Mitane & Oga city, in Akita pref. (秋田県能代市、三種町及び男鹿市沖)
- Yurihonjo city (Northern part), in Akita pref. (秋田県由利本荘市沖, 北側）
- Yurihonjo city (Southern part), in Akita pref. (秋田県由利本荘市沖, 南側）
- Choshi city, in Chiba pref. (千葉県銚子市沖)

Japanese government explains the reason that it is easier to grasp the progress.
And, they said "it does not intend to exclude specific countries".
