{"id":13235,"date":"2026-03-13T14:40:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T05:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jwpa.jp\/?post_type=information&#038;p=13235"},"modified":"2026-03-13T14:40:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T05:40:10","slug":"13235","status":"publish","type":"information","link":"https:\/\/jwpa.jp\/en\/information\/13235\/","title":{"rendered":"GWEC and JWPA Sign MOU to Advance Offshore Wind in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>The Japan Wind Power Association (\u201cJWPA\u201d) (Tokyo, Japan; President: Masaru Akiyoshi) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (\u201cMOU\u201d) with the Global Wind Energy Council (\u201cGWEC\u201d), the international trade association for the wind power industry, to strengthen cooperation and accelerate offshore wind development in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span>The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration between JWPA and GWEC aimed at promoting knowledge exchange, enhancing industry and supply chain networks, and supporting the sustainable growth of Japan\u2019s offshore wind sector. Through this partnership, the two organisations seek to leverage global expertise and best practices to reinforce the international competitiveness of Japan\u2019s offshore wind industry.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Under the MOU, the both organisations will cooperate, on a best-efforts basis and subject to mutual agreement, in areas including:<br \/><\/span><span>1)\u00a0 Facilitating business interactions through networking, business matching events, and participation in trade shows for the benefit of GWEC and JWPA members<br \/><\/span><span>2)\u00a0 Promoting engagement and joint initiatives between members of both organisations<br \/><\/span><span>3)\u00a0 Organising capacity-building programmes, workshops, and training to enhance the capabilities of offshore wind industry stakeholders<br \/><\/span><span>4)\u00a0 Support the development of joint publications on policy enablers \u2014 including finance, supply chain development, and regional carbon market integration \u2014 to address barriers to the energy transition and technology deployment<br \/><\/span><span>5)\u00a0 Sharing background information and promotional materials to mutually support events and communications across respective platforms<br \/><\/span><span>6)\u00a0 Engaging in regular dialogue to exchange best practices on offshore wind policy and regulatory frameworks, including harmonised standards in the Asia-Pacific region<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Masaru Akiyoshi, President of JWPA, said:<br \/><\/span><span>\u201cThis MOU with GWEC marks an important step in aligning Japan\u2019s offshore wind industry more closely with global developments. By strengthening supply chains and enhancing the policy and regulatory environment through international collaboration, we are committed to achieving steady and sustainable growth of offshore wind in Japan.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Rebecca Williams, Deputy CEO of GWEC, said:<br \/><\/span><span>\u201cJapan is one of the key markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
