The Korea Wind Energy Industry Association (KWEIA, Chairman: Mr. Hyung\u3000geun Kim) and the Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA, President: Mr. Masaru Akiyoshi) signed a Japan-Korea Joint Cooperation MOU (Memorandum of Understanding, hereinafter \u201cMOU\u201d) for the Development of the Asian Wind Energy Industry<\/em> on 2 July at the 2025 Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition<\/strong>, held at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea.<\/p>\r\n

This MOU aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two associations and their respective countries, focusing on enhancing the wind power industry and related supply chains, fostering technical exchange, and expanding opportunities for mutual investment. It reflects their shared commitment to building joint leadership in the rapidly growing Asian wind energy market.<\/p>\r\n

South Korea and Japan have both set ambitious targets for the adoption of renewable energy, particularly in offshore wind. With complementary strengths in technology, industrial infrastructure, and policy expertise, both countries recognize the strategic importance of working together to support sustainable growth in the region.<\/p>\r\n

Building on a history of steady collaboration, the two associations have now formalized their partnership through this MOU.<\/p>\r\n

Under the agreement, KWEIA and JWPA will pursue the following key initiatives:
\u30fbCreate business opportunities and promote supply chain cooperation to support technological development and market expansion in the wind energy sector
\u30fbStrengthen strategic collaboration through joint seminars, workshops, and networking events
\u30fbAdvance joint activities that contribute to the development of the wind power industry across Asia<\/p>\r\n

The MOU is valid through 31 December 2027 and will automatically renew every two years unless either party raises an objection.<\/p>\r\n

Mr. Seung Cheol Lee, Vice Chairman of KWEIA, stated:
\"It is highly meaningful that the Korean and Japanese wind energy associations have joined hands to take the first step toward developing the Asian wind energy market. Through this cooperation, I expect both countries to leverage their respective strengths to jointly drive the industry's growth in the region.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Mr. Masaru Akiyoshi, President of JWPA, commented:
\"This MOU marks an important milestone in strengthening our bilateral ties. By promoting technical collaboration and reinforcing supply chains, we aim to share leadership in advancing a decarbonised society across Asia. We look forward to deepening this partnership under the framework of this agreement.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
