The Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) has compiled preliminary figures on wind power generation installations in Japan as of the end of December 2024. The gross amount of new installations in 2024 was 703.3 MW (170 units) at 23 windfarms nationwide. 
Meanwhile, net installed capacity excluding removed windfarms was 663.0 MW (120 units) at 15 windfarms, resulting in a cumulative installed capacity of 5,840.4 MW (2,720 units).<\/p>\r\n
In offshore wind power in particular, the Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm has started operation, contributing to an increase in the amount of installed capacity as a new large-scale project. This will further expand Japan\u2019s offshore wind power market, following the Akita Port Offshore Wind Farm and the Nyuzen Offshore Wind Power Farm, which went into operation in 2023.<\/p>\r\n
By region, the Hokkaido region increased its installed capacity by approximately 455 MW compared to the previous year, ranking first in Japan. Furthermore, the capacity of single wind turbines continues to increase in size.<\/p>\r\n
